I ran a ton last week.  When I think of how easy it was to do it and how dedicated I’ve become I smile a bit.  If you would go back in time 10 years to 17 going on 18 year old Mrs. Anubis and asked me to run- Ha!.  You would have gotten laughed at-in your face.  When Mr. Anubis proposed to me I decided I needed to look good for the big day and started the running.  Now with the help of trainer Erik setting goals for me I am running at my best.  If I would have attempted this on my own, I wouldn’t push myself the way I have.  Erik has opened my eyes to challenging my body.  I have 7 more weeks of no drinking and snacks.  It will be interesting.

She Runs October 22, 2008

That’s right.  Mrs. Anubis runs.  She runs a lot.  She likes to run.  But Mrs.  Anubis of the past that lady never ran.  High School Mrs. Anubis hated to run.  Little Mrs. Anubis never ran.  Why is grown up Mrs.  Anubis a runner.  Who the hell knows.  I think it had to do with a wedding, and losing more weight for it.  Oh and a busy life.  Mrs.  Anubis went to community college straight from high school IN ADDITION TO working full time.  Mrs. Anubis continued to work full time after she received her associates degree, but realized that she needs to add exercise.  Nevermind that Mrs.  Anubis is working full time at her day job, working full time at a theatre, dancing 3 days a week, and doing lots of theatrical productions.  What is the fastest way to burn some calories.  Run fat ass run….  Mrs.  Anubis always stayed true to the running.  She even added another challenge, finishing her bachelor’s degree, in addition to everything else.  Wow Mrs.  Anubis is very motivated.  Mrs.  Anubis loves a challenge.  Well….  Mrs.  Anubis also runs for another reason.  To run off stress.  Mrs.  Anubis’ boss thinks she lacks motivation and initiative.  Mrs.  Anubis was angry but did not speak out of turn to bossman.  (Even though Mrs.  Anubis wanted to tell bossman he is an arrogant prick who doesn’t know shit and Oh his company is very sexist and Oh don’t forget your company is doing things illegal and Oh you can’t have different sets of rules for different people.  This is not 1963 so no labor laws say no you can’t)  Mrs.  Anubis needed to run after she heard that.  In addition Mrs.  Anubis got involved with several recruiters in order to end this daily madness.  Bah!  Mrs.  Anubis is just irritated thinking about her boss.  But it’s OK.  Mrs.  Anubis has a plan.  Mrs.  Anubis always finishes what she starts.  All of this running is good for Mrs.  Anubis’ 5k in December.  Hopefully Mrs.  Anubis will wow everyone who thinks differently of her running ability AKA her parents who think she is full of shit.  GRRRRRRR  I am grumpy..  I mean Mrs.  Anubis is grumpy.

 

8 week dry out October 20, 2008

So this week begins the official Mrs. Anubis 8 week dry out.  Why is this such a big deal.  Well because it is damnitt!!  There is beer, wine, and liquor all throughout my home.  I love coming home from work, opening a Heineken, and reading my favorite blogs on the computer.  So, it begins.  No alcohol during my intense training for the 5k.  My birthday is in 3 weeks, which sucks too!  I sure hope Mr. Anubis enjoys those Heinekens in the fridge and drinks them in private or I’ll smack him.  I ran outside on Saturday for the first time in forever.  You know what I discovered?  It’s freakin’ cold and my windpipe hurts breathing cold air.  Perfect.  My 5k is in December and it will be 30 degrees colder.  Why can’t they have the “Who can run a 5k the fastest on a treadmill?” race?  I’d be number 1.  I also discovered I run a lot slower outside.  I was scrambling to keep my keys in my pocket, iPod from falling on the ground and breaking, and my phone (which is the only thing I have that has stopwatch capabilities) in my pocket without shutting it off accidentally.  Whatev.  I finished.  I was happy.  I ran 1 mile.  Walked 1 mile.  Ran 1/4 mile.  Walked 1/4 mile.  Ran 1/4 mile.  Walked 1/4 mile.  Next time I run outside I’ll totally be more prepared for unexpected elements.

 

Housecleaning October 18, 2008

So for my 2 readers out there I wanted to point out I did some housecleaning.  I have a new theme, but I also consolidated all of my blogs from MySpace and Livejournal to this one.  Now I have everything in one neat package!  I haven’t had breakfast yet, but I am eying up that fat free eggo in my freezer.  Today I will be running.  Period.  Just a mile.  It’s more of a scientific experiment.  I never paid attention to how long it takes me to run a mile.  Anything I say is really a guess based on how long it took me to do whatever in 3 miles.  Basically this experiment is to just get my time.  I have good songs to do it.  I’m going to the college track instead of my former high school to avoid any humiliation from 15 year olds.  But I may have to settle for what I can get depending on if there are football games scheduled.

I love reading other blogs.  Especially weight loss blogs.  I am currently reading through the archives of the Pasta Queen.  I really applaud her courage and determination.  I also bought her book.  Blogging to writing a book.  It’s fascinating.  In one of her earlier posts she mentioned that all of the best sellers were diet books!  Good Luck Pasta Queen!  I hope you sell a ton of books.

 

Dusting off the cobwebs on my blog October 17, 2008

To Trainer Erik,

I figured this would be the best way to keep you updated on my life, exercise, and food via an online diary or blog.  I put this blog to bed after a failed try and some boredom, but I’ve read that if you write out your goals and successes no matter how small you will have a better outcome.  So I’ll start off everyday with what I ate and any activity.  There will be daily updates but the posts may be edited several times a day to recap anything.  I hope this works for you!

Food:

  • 1 blueberry doughnut
  • 1 cup of egg beaters
  • 2 hard boiled eggs
  • 1 lean pocket
  • Del Monte Fruit Chiller
  • About 30 pumpkin seeds (from my pumpkins I carved last night)
  • Leftover baked chicken
  • 2 fat free turkey dogs

Ok so no exercise today because I had a million things to do.  I am running the track tomorrow
